Coming soon
I am starting a blog and newsletter. I feel weird about sharing my ideas and what I do publicly, but I'm learning a ton that I want to share about moving from nonprofit work to running a business and living in Mexico City. I will be sending a newsletter monthly and diving into topics like creating healthy equitable cities, bridging political divides, and navigating life.
Below is a sneak preview of some upcoming content:
What City Planners can Learn from Libraries about "Access"
I just finished a project with the Palm Beach County Library and was inspired by the diversity of their programming to ensure all people have access to their services. Librarians are now go-to social workers and workshop facilitators. They have programs to serve the homeless, those who are immobile, and content creators. In city planning we talk about housing or transportation as a civil right, yet there is this constant debate around who is deserving of those resources. What would housing or transit look like if we thought about access the way a a library does?
Interview with Jeff Chang
I was able to interview author Jeff Chang, Hip Hop historian & leading racial equity thought leader, about his work co-founding Colorlines and narrative building. Spoiler alert: His wife studied city planning which is why Jeff integrates urban history so well in his writing.
Personal Update
Moving to Mexico has been way easier than it sounds. It's also not a novel idea; I'm meeting many millennials doing the same thing. With my reduced living expenses, I'm able to take more risks starting a business, save for a house, and can spend time on dance, art, and performing. (Photo above of a recent oil painting)
